You’re shopping for parts, everything’s going smoothly, and then suddenly — there it is. A core charge added to your order.
If you’re wondering what that is and why you’re being charged for it, you’re not alone. Let’s break it down.
What Is a Core?
A core is simply your old part. The one you’ve pulled out of your vehicle to replace – usually because it’s tired, worn out, or just had enough.
For example:
If you’re buying reconditioned injectors, the core is your old injectors.
If it’s a fuel pump, the core is your used pump.
These parts get returned, stripped down, cleaned up, and rebuilt to factory specs – or in some cases, upgraded for turbo or performance use. It’s how we keep quality rebuilt parts available and affordable.
Why Is There a Core Charge?
The core charge is a fully refundable deposit. It exists to ensure that customers actually send their old parts back.
Rebuilding parts only works if we get the old ones back in the first place. Without cores, we can’t offer reconditioned stock – it’s that simple. So the charge is there to keep the system moving and make sure parts keep circulating.
You’re not being charged anything extra in the long run – return the part, and you get the full amount back.
When Will You See a Core Charge?
We only apply a core charge if you need a pre-built item sent out first – usually because you still need your vehicle running while waiting for the new part.
If you’re in a position to send us your old part upfront, no core charge is needed. But if you need the replacement before you can pull the old one, we’ll apply the charge as a temporary hold.
How Do You Get the Refund?
Here’s the process:
Fit the new part and remove your old one.
Send the old part (the core) back to us.
We’ll inspect it to make sure it’s rebuildable – no cracks, major damage, or excessive wear.
Once approved, we refund your core charge in full.
No hassles. Just a straight-forward return and refund.
Why Your Core Matters
Rebuilt parts don’t come out of thin air – they come from your old components.
Without your returned parts, there’s no way to keep high-quality reconditioned options on the shelf. This system keeps costs down, reduces waste, and helps other vehicle owners down the line.
So, that core charge? It’s not a fee. It’s a placeholder – and as long as your old part makes its way back to us, it’s money back in your pocket.
