Genuine Toyota Power Steering Pump Fitting Kit

If the pump on your Landcruiser is weeping from the body seam or the pressure pipe, you don’t need a new pump. You need this power steering pump fitting kit. Three pieces, all genuine Toyota: the large body O ring, the small O ring, and the twin gasket for the pressure pipe union.

What Fails And Why

The vane pump on the H series engines rarely dies from wear. What kills them is the seals going hard. Thirty years of heat cycling turns the rubber brittle, it takes a set, and once it stops springing back the pump starts seeping. Usually it shows up as fluid down the back of the pump body, or a stain on the crossmember under the pressure line. People see the leak, assume the pump is cooked, and throw a reconditioned unit at it. Nine times out of ten the pump was fine.

What’s In The Kit

Large body O ring, small O ring, and the pressure pipe twin gasket. That’s everything you disturb when you split the pump or pull the pressure line, so you’re not halfway through the job realising you need one more part.

Fitting Notes

Clean the sealing faces properly before the new seals go anywhere near them. Old rubber leaves a glaze that will let the new O ring weep straight away. Seat them dry, don’t stretch them onto the groove, and don’t overtighten the pressure pipe union chasing a seal that’s already sealed. Bleed the system by turning lock to lock with the front end off the ground before you drive it.

Suits Toyota Landcruiser 70, 80 and 105 Series fitted with the 1HZ, 1PZ, 1HD-T or 1HD-FT diesel engines. Does not suit the 1HD-FTE. Full chassis code breakdown below.
